I absolutely have a passion for kewpies.....but...only wearing accessories...that way you get to enjoy their cherub chubbiness....and when you can combine , a Kewpie and and a flamingo...heaven !

Doggie friends

Bubbles and Squiggee wanted to show off some of their very beautiful and handsome doggie pal's and family...in Squiggeeland...dogs rule...

New Rollie from Squiggeeland...

This is the newest Squiggee Rollie....she can be hung on the tree as an ornament...or displayed on a stick with a base on a shelf...or worked flat ..a great little insert for a bag or pillow...the possibilities are endless...

New Summer Crabs...

Here in Squiggeeland...Summer is getting a great start in the studio.....we thought these silly shaped crabs would add to the fun... with their bug pearl eyes and crabby ways...

Pooh and Friends...

This very special piece that I designed , painted and stitched for my husband, just got a new lease on life...I worked it the early 80's... all in wool..imagine that...and because we had no money to get it professionally finished, I mounted it on a frame with upholstery tacks and covered the back with cloth...well over the years and all our moves, it was a little worse for wear, dirty...it amazes me how clean and bright It came back from the finisher...like new...this is the lone example of me using a variety of stitches..french knots ,turkey stitch, cut and on the owl , the turkey stitch was left uncut...a nice looped affect...there are a lot of other stitches and frankly i don't know what they are called off hand...with all the painting I do, I rarely ever stitch....
the piece is around 16 x 12 on 13st...it now hangs in our bedroom.... all refreshed and nothing beats the look a professional finisher can give a piece...money well spent...

Flip Flop...Flip Flop....Flip Flop.....Summer is here

I personally like the sound that really cheap flip flops make...the clackety clack..is music to my ears...these ff's don't make any nose ,but are pure fun to work, and there is a variety of things you can do with them, the best being, attached to a straw bag...
silly yes...but oh ....what fun !

New Birds

Blue Monday

Monday in Squiggeeland is always known as Blue Monday...that is when Squiggee's Daddy
goes back to work...Squiggee so enjoys her weekends, loaded with cuddles , naps and countless ball games...come Monday morning ,it is back to the old grind...Mommy working in the studio after...........................................
spending the morning doing mess control, i.e. laundry and picking up after the weekends follies...
Mommy ignores us...plus she hates doing household chores ( she thinks she should only paint...!!!! what a diva) .....and this is a particular bad Monday, because Mommy's cleaning lady couldn't make it Friday...yikes......and all Squiggee can do is take a nap in her little pink cubby in the studio, and wait till her Daddy comes home... that is when the day really starts...oh my...what is a girl to do...
sometimes Mommy uses bad words while doing the laundry.......!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In The Round

Two pillows designed in the round...the first has great freedom and movement within the circle and the second has the restraint of the ribbon...the ribbon moves but not the flowers... two pillows using the round in very different ways.........cousins , but not twins...lol

My little Chick-A-Dee....

Look what just flew into Squiggeeland....this little guy finally got his tail feathers , thanks to priority mail...not many birdies can say that..lol...

Squiggeeland is all a flutter with new birds.......and a chick-a-dee will be making his
grand appearance when his tail feathers arrive in the mail...lol....

Two New Birdies in Squiggeeland

I have been hard at it ,getting caught up on my custom work the last couple of weeks...sometimes this leaves very little time to have some fun creating new fun things for the Squiggee line...So today, it was so hot and miserable, I thought I would treat myself and have a little Squiggee fun...
these are the two newest additions to Squiggeeland...and more birdies to follow...
after all birds of a feather....lol....

Variations of Design

These medallions are the center of a set of 12 chair seats...these are the first four...
each being different , using the same basic elements of one theme of design..these are the first four.......this way the chair seats will compliment each other , and add interest because they are all unique....

A Kiss Belt

I do a lot of belts...all kinds of designs...they are very personal to the customer...

this custom belt was fun, not because I am a big fan of Kiss, although the make-up is quite nice, but because I like the album covers, very powerful and graphic...the customer wanted her favorite covers, or a little bit of them...this belt certainly won't be lost in a crowd...

great fun....

A Small Rug

This rug on 10st...is small..36 x 48"....... not the conventional Design...a little more free flowing than the counted Persian or other more complicated designs....there is something to be said for simple....I myself just like the look of needlepoint rugs....you can create a whole room around this one piece.....

A Special Teacher

This was a very special tapestry I designed for a private school, the Potomac School...... a huge project ...26 x 36" on 18st....It took me nine days to paint, and the detail was very intense... ......the tapestry tells a story of a wonderful teacher , and her long career at the school...she was retiring .... this was a gift to honor her....the boarder shows all the elements of school life.......my favorite part is the graduation scene under the big tree, a school landmark .....it was a challenge to get the feel of the scene given a small space ...tricking the eye yet again...

Marching along

This custom order was a bit hard...it was on 13st. and 8 inches high.....

what you end up doing, is creating an illusion for the eye to fill in...you have to make a decision, what stitches are necessary to create the image...so every stitch counts...

Easy to change the canvas size to 18st ,so you have the use of more stitches per inch, or in turn enlarge the design, giving yourself more stitches to work with on 13st...but sometimes a customer needs the size and the canvas stitch and it is up to the designer to make it happen...

A little bit of a challenge, but not impossible...
