A little bird

This morning I finally got the little seagull on his stand...The Stitchery in Camden Maine , My amazing finishers ,did their part weeks ago...and I have been so busy that he was just pushed aside , waiting to be completed....my husband made the base , and I put the rope around it, to give it that extra touch of the sea port...actually , whenever I see a seagull, I have this great memory of childhood...we would take our garbage and trash to the DUMP, in South Harpswell Maine, in the summers( my parents have a summer cottage there, and we spent each and ever summer from the day school let out, to a week before school started)......now the prospect of filing the back of the station wagon with smelly garbage and trash, and unloading it at the dump might leave you thinking ..yuck...but the amazing part ,was to watch the seagulls fighting over the choice bits, all covered with dirt and grim the gulls preformed, making us laugh .... fascinated at their antics , for us kids this was the height of entertainment......the smell was enough to kill, but ambrosia to the gulls...some would fight like woman at a sale at Macy's...pushing and pulling , and squawking , that high pitch sound that gulls make....obviously you had to be there...and this little gull has surely taken a tubby after any trip to the dump...
he is off to Washington State where he will now live...he will be missed...I am finding it hard to part with my finished things...they are to spread the word of Squiggee, but a part of me would like to keep them here in Squiggeeland...omg...I have never had needlepoint in my house but for Christmas..this new phase , is a little worrying...I have gone bananas!!!

Gingerbread Houses

Squiggee Designs now has all her Shaped Gingerbread Houses back under one house....funny how a series just gets bigger, when you aren't even looking...Eight of these little Houses are off to the ANG, to be worked by a special committee and then auctioned at their big do....these are a favorite series of Squiggee...I am crazy about Gingerbread Houses...tried to bake on once...what a disaster and the kitchen looked like a bomb had hit..and the house , like a wrecking ball had done it's best...so painting them in needlepoint was a much better option...and no icing in my hair...that was the least of it...lol...

A New Squiggee Sweater

Just the sort of bright fun little sweater to welcome Spring to Squiggeeland....
Spring is defiantly in the air, as I sneeze and my eyes itch...this all happens way before the grass and trees start to come alive...both dogs have Spring fever and Miss Bubbles wants to be outside all the time now...she loves the new smells that Spring is on the way and just sniffs the air and almost smiles...doggy style...meanwhile Miss Squiggee-Buns and I are heavy into klennex....lol...as soon as everything blossoms we will be a bit better.....When I sneeze..it excites the dogs and they come running...fun is where you find here in rural PA...

Prunella Pug Just Popped In !!!!!

We here in Squiggeeland are just tickled with the great job that the Stitchery did with
our 10st Prunella Pug Rollie...until she arrived the other day all done up with her great bow...she was nameless and wasn't even a she....but she has made such a hit in our house that she now has a name and personality plus...I worked her entirely in DMC cotton floss but for a little copper Carlton Snow in her eyes....she stands 10.25" tall and is 2 7/8" in diameter....she is weighted so she is free standing......I designed her on 18st, so it shows that a stitch painted canvas has no bounds as far as size and canvas stitch......and of course finding a great finisher that has a knack for making your designs come to life is also a must...Michele and her gang at the Stitchery, in Camden Maine, are the best...her link is on this page...

"MAMA'S CHICKENS ARE COMING HOME"..!!!!!!!

As most of you already know, I began creating hand painted needlepoint canvases back in the early 70's , when I finished college.
I would like to thank the following people....

First and foremost, Mrs. Chase, the owner of the American Needlepoint Center, who gave me my first job.
Mrs. Catherine Cox, manager of the ANC, who gave me my first crack ,at creating a custom canvas.
Mrs. Bentziger, who taught me to stitch paint the canvas.
Cherie Cannon, who has always bee a loyal friend , and avid fan.
Carol Jobe, a dear friend , always working hard to promote my work.
Hyla Hurley Sandoz, for her encouragement.
and
Lastly..
Judy Harper , a fellow artist and designer, who's continuous support and love of the well painted canvas , has reinforced my new direction.

When I began freelancing in 1980, I painted under a couple of monikers..("Festival Designs" and " by Gail").I began Squiggee Designs in 2005, for my own enjoyment. I never realized that so many designs would pop out of my fertile imagination.
Well, folks , all of " Mama's Chickens, are coming home to roost.

I'll be launching a new endeavor ,that encompasses all my painted canvases under a new marketing strategy. Of course, that makes me Queen of my own domain...lol...
stay tuned for further details.....
