A Christmas Kaleidoscope

Another Squiggee sample I worked....I do notice, that the metallics ,do warp the canvas a little...not much, but they seem to have a mind of their own...the eight pointed stars are in basketweave, and boy are they solid metallic...interesting fibers all the way around...this piece in person does shimmer and shine...perfect for a Christmas thingy...not sure...it is 6"sq on 13st...I guess you could use it to make a tiny pillow , or better yet an insert for a big pillow......frame it or use as an ornament on a big tree......I haven't decided how I will have it finished......anyway...I am learning about some fibers...I really never thought this day would come.....lol...

Kreinik has a new size of metallic that is said to be perfect for 13 count canvas. See if you can find #24 Braid. You might be using the fatter #32 braid and it might be too thick and pulling the canvas out of true a bit for that reason.

I use #16 braid for 13 mesh - it's perfect and doesn't warp the canvas. #12 is for 18 mesh - and it does fine. I love this piece, but it would make me crazy to stitch it.

The metallic braids have different finishes, too, that make a difference - the High Lustre ones are so stiff I avoid them when I can and use the 1/16" ribbon instead if I really want that much glitter and shine..

I think it would be cute done as an ornament!
