No tacky Bob...isn't a new Squiggee frog..but that is a thought...it is the sticky case that a friend sent me for beading...yes it does take a little more time than just having the beads in a little cup...but I am constantly spilling beads ..I have bought every conceivable container...for storage of beads...the best being the ones ,that lock the individual compartments...as long as they unlock...I had to pry one section open with a screw driver ...only to have bead explosion...oh well......anything that helps reduce the escaping bead population is OK with me...vacuuming in my house after a beading session sounds like I'm vacuuming the gravel driveway.........my only thing is ......tacky Bob needs to be bigger...I certainly am getting an education on stitching with all kinds of fibers......................
what to do to organize the stash...it looks to me ......like I need to hire someone... i wish all the fibers came on cards... the worst....DMC ......once it gets out of it's little tube ...telling you the color..it just runs amok..the Satin floss the worst...i am going to have to make my own cards to wrap the stuff so it doesn't wind up a big gnarled ball...as I repeat..I need to hire the stash lady...her job will be to know exactly .....what I have.... how much I have ....the color...and be able to give me the exact information at any time .......at any given moment...total recall.......A+organizational skills .... now back to reality..........but really...I have to do something .......it is quickly becoming a confused mess...maybe the stash lady ...can wear two hats ?????? she can be...... the bead/charm/ribbon/feather lady...the feathers now have their own chest draw...to think ...that Squiggee started with on little paw print brass charm...lol...this is the way it always goes with me.......

Hi Gail,
I'm not the official "Stash Lady" but maybe I can help. :-)
When you open up a skein of thread, IMMEDIATELY take one end of the thread and loop it through the label that was wrapped around it originally. Then tie a knot. You can then cut your thread from the other end and you won't lose the label!
You can make your own thread winders from heavy card stock. Just cut it (or use a die cut machine) to the size or shape that you want. Then cut an indentation on both sides of the center so that you can wrap the threads and they won't slide off. Make sure that you cut it long enough so that you can write the thread information on the top.
Dritz has new small storage containers in various sizes that are great for storing beads. They are flat with big openings (I have big hands and fingers) and lids that come off easily. I've picked up a lot to use while I'm reorganizing my beads.
I've found some wonderful containers that I'm using to reorganize my stash. Please have a look at my blog to see if what is working for me will help you. :-)

I need to do you a tutorial on how I handle the DMC stuff - much easier. I also store the stuff in Ziploc Snack bags. I use the floss with the double thing and a slip knot against the eye of the needle so the plies don't run amok. This just requires cutting the whole skien into lengths by opening it out and folding it back up three times and cutting the ends - that's all. then you can just tie it in a loose knot like we used to do Persian wool.
I love Tacky Bobs! I've even used it on the plane.
