People are always so interested on what exciting wonderful amazing wildly creative thing is happening in the painting studio...just working away painting needlepoint...business as usual...but two days ago...my new painting apron arrived...there reaches a point when the old apron is just plain disgusting...even though it is just paint and not dried food or remnants from the last brain surgery operation that I did...lol...I know that borders on bad taste...but people look at the old apron! ...and you really don't get the full effect because the concentration of layers of dried paint is like a map of mountains you used to see in grade school. A topographical map of paint......
A new apron is hard to adjust to...you feel you have to protect it from paint initially...until the first blob hits...which was yesterday...oh well so much for my photo shoot of looking all professional and tidy...most days when I get ready to paint...I look like I could painting or trolling the streets looking for spare change...a bum you say...I am always clean...but a fine line on appearance...
everything is worn, patched and has paint...faded...just cootie...lol...but that is how most working artists in a studio look...when clothes get old or torn or stained , an artist just wears them to work...I do buy men's work shirts new for painting...they can be washed millions of times before they rip or just wear out...unlike women's clothes....the up side to this, if I need to sew a button on...the shirt is usually ready for rags or the trash...so I rarely ever have to sew anything...
I wear leggings because they are warm and comfy , and when my finger goes through them when pulling them on they are also ready for the scrap heap...
...
It tickled me at first, then that evening I asked Mr. Squiggee how I looked on a daily basis...his reply, well we both look terrible when we work...enough said , I dropped the subject !
footnote...being arty and a mess might be sexy when you are young....but at 60...not so much, unless you are into bag ladies..lol
