MY NEW PUP..TWINKLE

Like all households that have lost a loved one and in addition have taken on the task of adding a new puppy, my world has taken a big jolt. With Squiggee gone from Omar's world , he went into such a grief state that he lost interest in everything....just waited for Squiggee to return I think...so like we have always done , we got our dog a new  companion. Omar has never spent a night without Squiggee by his side, but for the night he had his operation...you know the one all our female and male dogs get when they are old enough...but for that they have always had each other....so besides mourning Squiggee's lost, Omar was just plain lonely. We always acquire our puppy  by chance. The breeders had a small ad in a local advertiser paper and it wasn't even under dogs or pets, but listed under animals...A Chiweenie...now who is that when they are home ? I ask you...sounds like a main course at on of our little  local Mexican restaurants.Well OK close...A Chihuahua father called Jack and a Dachshund mother called Nestley...how's that for a pedigree...awesome..... Not being a fan of either breed especially, we took the open mind route.... on the plus side... the pup was small which Omar would like, after all he is top dog, a female which we wanted...she did not need clipping...one dog that has to be groomed is plenty on the budget, and she tolerated the heat....perfect.. and we have always found that the mix breeds we have had are really much healthier than a full breed.....so I called and  we set up a time to meet and greet , and frankly I was surprised she was so cute...some of the Chiweenies are just scary...I guess it is a crap shoot when you mix breeds....she is sweet full of energy, loves Omar and us , likes to cuddle and like most small dogs thinks she is a Great Dane Fearless...she flings herself off the bed into air like s flying Squirrel... she is smart, a must ...she is already hip to going outside to do her business, in fact she loves the yard with the cactus and is especially thrilled with the passing Quail and multitude of birds and she loves any bugs , but could care less about the bunnies.... she hasn't seen her first lizard. We never have the dogs out unattended because the odd snake can come in, but we don't have that happen often  because there is no place to hide, just gravel and big Saguaro cactus... She has fit into the family quickly and I think she will eventually cure the big whole in Omar's heart that Squiggee Left... She is growing fast, and she had her first check-up and shot ,all of which she handled like no big deal . She even took the three day worming stuff in her stride...the vet says she is ultra healthy and she sees no problems , which is always good news. As far a size, that too is a crap shoot...we won't know till she is full grown....I guess it depends on what genes dominate...Father or mother...but she has great features and truly great flying nun's ears...who could ask for anything more... She has made things better, but I do so miss Squiggee...my sweet girl, like I miss all my dogs that have gone to doggie heaven...only time helps, but what I wouldn't give to wake up tomorrow morning and have all my pouches jumping all over me giving my dog kisses and love...
