The crown now has it's Petite Very Velvet red and the white is the Caron Snow...the jacket collar is black dmc cotton floss ..... his green skin is all DMC Floss ,with wort's in a bump stitch...
his eyes are DMC floss with just a bit of bright lime green metallic Kreinik #16 med. braid....and I will add a nice 4mm black bead to make his eyes pop...
I think keeping to just the basket weave ,but for his wort's and his pants are worked in a double basket weave stitch...great to cover two stitches... keeping my choice of stitches to a minimum ,allows me to go crazy with colors and textures..... from silk to cotton floss to metallic , with just a touch of velvet...the very velvet is nice in small amounts...not the most pleasant to work with...a little to delicate for my taste...but does add depth....anyway...should be done soon..the beading will add the final glitz...no one wants a dull prince frog...lol

I think he looks very regal (for a frog, lol).
Very Velvet also comes in Petite Very Velvet which works better for me on 18 count canvas. If you don't have any, let me know and I'll rummage in my threads to see if I have any for you to try.
I agree, you have flying needles. If Jane doesn't have any Petite Very Velvet, I might have some. Send me a note if you don't get some to try!
I have lots of PVV, as 18 is all I work on - but I won't share it. I like his warts!! I agree about basketweave allowing us to show different colors and texures of threads to best advantage!!
